Abstract
Morphologically, sweetpotato flower easy to crossing and physiologically easy to preventing of self-pollination possibility caused by natural process of self-incompatibility. But through these processes, only few capsules and seeds are produced. In other hand, beside self-incompati bility process, cross-incompatibility also happen in the plant. This study goal was to evaluate the effect of incompatibility and sterility on fruit and seedset of sweetpotato, and comparing between, female and male-parent ability on fruit and seedset. The result of this research indicates that low production of fruit and seedset is due to sweetpotato genotype. The presence of cross incompatibility and sterility in sweetpotato be came the most important component in the lower fruit and seedset. Female parent position in crossng recombination has yielded more fruitset than male parent position.
