Use of Crude Extract of Tree Foliages on Control Diet to the In-vitro Fermentation Products This study evaluated the use of a crude extract of Gliricidia sepium, Jacq., Calliandra calothyrsus, Meissn., Moringa oleifera, Lamm., Leucaena leucocephala, Artrocarpus heterophyllus, Paraserianthes falcataria and Samanea saman leaves, on control diet to the in-vitro fermentation products. Extraction was performed in acetone solvent. Evaluation of the use of crude extract is done by adding crude extract on the control diet. Control diet maize stover plus the concentrate at 1:1 proportion, 13.32% crude protein. The use of 3-4% crude extract in the control diet prepared in 6 treatments was repeated 3 times. The variables measured were (a). Total phenol (TP), total tannins (TT) and condensed tannin (CT) of the crude extract, and (b) degradation of dry matter (DM), degradation of organic matter (OM) of 48 hours in-vitro incubation. DM and OM value degradation of 48 hours in-vitro incubation used crude extract were analyzed Randomized complete block design, whereas the difference in the value of the DM and OM degradation on the control diet were analyzed descriptively. The results of the study it appears that the higher use of crude extract from the leaves showed DM and OM degradation values were decreased. The use of 4% crude extract from Samanea saman leaves (SSL) able to reduce DM and OM degradation control diet, respectively 9.69% and 8.41%.
