Abstract
ABSTRACT Introduction: District Nabire, Papua, Indonesia is classified as a remote location in Indonesia and requires much more attention in terms of increasing health service coverage. The aim of this study to examine the condition of remote communities using a community nursing assessment approach. Methods: A descriptive analytical was used as research design, with the presentation of the results of nursing assessments conducted on 27 respondents who lives under the working area of the Puskesmas Bumiwonorejo, Nabire, Papua through total sampling in December 2021. Results and analysis: The results showed that there was a Community Health Deficit with the discovery of the majority of respondents suffered from upper respiratory tract infection (74.1%), TB and Malaria in the last 6 months, have a large risk factor for exposure to disease due to activities outside the home as farmers/breeders, did not have special sources of health funds, and difficult access to the nearest public health facility. Discussions: The research recommendations are to plan nursing actions through community health development and strengthening the role of Puskesmas as primary service providers in promotive, preventive efforts without leaving curative efforts in their working areas. In addition to strengthening the value of local wisdom through the use of natural ingredients as a solution to limited access to medicines are needed.
