Abstract
Medication adherence is a self-management that can significantly affect blood glucose levels. Controlled glucose levels may reduce morbidity and mortality due to diabetes mellitus complications. This research aim was to determine the relationship between medication adherence and fasting blood glucose levels in patients of DMT 2 at Puskesmas X Malang City. The cross-sectional research design is used to the sample of 46 respondents with DMT 2 which were selected by a simple random sampling technique. Data of medication adherence and fasting blood glucose levels were taken based on medical records of Puskesmas X Malang City. The results of statistical tests using Fisher's Exact test obtained a p value of 0.001, p value <0.05, it’s means that respondent who adherence of medication treatment have normal fasting blood glucose levels; it indicates there is a relationship between medication adherence and fasting blood glucose levels in patients of DMT 2 at Puskesmas X Malang City. It is recommended for further study to explore the factors that influence medication adherence of patients with chronic disease.
