Abstract
Waste processing that is generally done today is to use an open dumping system and not meet adequate standards. As we have known today that environmental problems are closely related to environmental pollution this is due to a lack of public awareness to protect the environment. In Law No. 18 of 2008 concerning Waste Management stated that everyone in the management of household waste and household-like waste is obliged to reduce and handle waste in an environmentally sound manner. In this study researchers used a type of qualitative research. The location of this research is in Mulyoagung Village, Dau District, Malang Regency. The source of this research data uses primary and secondary data sources. This data source can be obtained from interviews or observations in the field. From the results of the analysis found in the field it is known that the process of implementing community empowerment activities in Mulyoagung Village has been carried out very well with analysis using reduction techniques, presentation and conclusion drawing. Participatory development is closely related to community empowerment, where participatory development requires efforts and steps to prepare the community to strengthen community institutions so that they are able to realize progress, independence and prosperity in an atmosphere of sustainable justice to improve their dignity and be able to escape poverty and retardation. These efforts are one of the concrete manifestations of community empowerment.
