Abstract
This study aimed to determine the fanssaticism of K-pop fans on Instagram and to know how kpop fans respond to hoax and negative information about their idols. This research useda descriptive qualitative method and the data collection tech-niques were interviews and literature study. The informants were selected using a purposive sampling technique. The results showed thatfansfanssaticism on Instagram could be seen through fanss activities such as Meaning Making, Meaning Sharing in form of interpreting K-pop idol posts as motivation in working, making admiring and proud postsfor their K-pop idols. Poaching by following fansite accounts and making fanssfiction and videos. Collectand upload pictures about K-pop officialmerchandise they had and build knowledge with fellow fans. Fanssaticism ofK-pop fans was also expressed through fanss responsesto hoax and negative information from their idols. Those responses were influenced by the age of fans, knowledge about K-pop culture, the environment, the period of as K-pop fanss. In finding clarification about the truth of the negative newsthey looked for reliable sources such as the official Insta-gram account of K-pop idol, official Instagram account management artist, Korean major media such as Soompi, Allkpop, and press realeases provided by the artist management.
